Nina Dobrev wants Elena to be "single" in season 3

Nina Dobrev reveals that she would like Elena to be single for a while in series 3

In an interview with E! Online, Nina is reported as saying that at the end of season 2, Elena " actually legitimately kissed Damon this time, last year it was a fakeout. You thought that she kissed Damon but she didn't, it was Katherine. Now this year they locked lips and it was very sad, but beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time." Talking about the upcoming season 3, she went on to say that the kiss had laid the groundwork for a new storyline and that it will be one to see how it develops from the first episode.

However, Dobrev admitted that she would like Elena to be single now that Stefan (Paul Wesley) has left Mystic Falls with Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

"I'd like to see Elena go solo for a second and see if she can not let the men in love lead her life," she said. "Every woman has to stand on her own two feet at some point. It seems that Stefan is off wreaking havoc now with Mr Klaus and she needs to figure it out and see if she can be on her own for a second."

Whatever happens we know that we can't wait for the drama of season 3 to unravel!
